April 14, 2012

White Dog does not like high winds. The howling canyon winds scare her. She hates the creaking a rattling. The blowing sand gets in her eyes, nose and furs. WD jumps at every slam of the mail flap and bang of the blinds through our 90 -year -old air leaky windows.

The rest of the White Dog Army concurs to varying degrees. Everyone gets restless and agitated. YoYoMa hides in Puff's crate, totally panicked by what he cannot see. Quinn paces. Puff hides out in the hallway where there are no windows. Nuka just curls up in the closet and sleeps. Alternately, the entire WDA huddles around Steve and I, pressing close and clinging like barnacles.

The Plan had been to go out and play this afternoon, but with winds gusting up to 35mph and temperatures hovering in the mid-forties (not our typical back side of April weather) we all agreed to stay in and cocoon. In others words as White Dog decreed, "This Saturday has been cancelled!"

So the Army napped and spent home-time with Steve and got a LOT of much needed brushing. We clung together and laughed when we all jumped from the wind's scream. Mostly, we just enjoyed being together.

We have heard that a majority of the country is also bracing for wild and crazy weather conditions. We hope all stay safe and ride out the storms without issue. It is a good day to get snuggly under a blanket, watch an old movie, and fall asleep before the end.  We ask the Universe to protect those trapped without choice in the rains, tornadoes, winds, and whatever else mother nature throws at us.

May tomorrow be a better day. Have a super Sunday!

Thanks for your good wishes, White Dogs and the same to you, from us.
We are down for wind and rain for tomorrow, and tomorrow night getting 1 to 3 inches of snow. I am glad Stella and I had a nice long walk today, it will be a few more days before we get out again.

Stay home and stay cozy!

We are all hoping for a calm and quiet week. We had our wild weekend weather and worry, and then last night all those strong winds roared through here. Mom thought the house was going to blow away. Let the serenity begin.
