January 20, 2016

White Dog and the rest of the Army closed ranks as I sobbed.

"no more magnificent smiles ever again," I keened.

It was so fast. so unexpected. When did we cross from hope to "it is time?" I had only gotten up to go to the bathroom and when I returned...

Ferguson had run for the stars.

I caressed the soft fur.

The White Dog Army pushed faces against me and pressed tightly. White Dog jumped up to be at her place next to me.

I took a breath and dialed the phone. "Steve? Ferg is gone."

  1. Oh, Sue, we are so very sorry that Ferguson had to make such a sudden journey to the Bridge. We wish we could make it better, but we will resign ourselves to wrapping you all in a mantle of prayers, love and good thoughts as you mourn your special boy.

Fly free, Ferguson. You are loved always.
