White Dog got up early with Steve to accomplish the most important of today's tasks before the heat set in. While Quinn and I snoozed (it was 7am), the early birds set about hooking up the evaporative cooler for the main house. Steve got out the ladder and his tools as White Dog supervised. He went up on the roof and reconnected the motor and hooked up the water line. He tossed the other end over the roof to fasten it onto the spigot and White Dog woofed that the length was perfect and the line in just the right place. She came inside (safety first) when Steve turned on the circuit at the box and was waiting when he joined her to do a "test." Steve set the thermostat for its coldest setting and then he and White Dog sat quietly under the duct to listen for the sound of water spraying the pads inside the cooler and the start up whirr of the fan. Success earned cuddles and pets but the job was not yet complete. Supervisor White Dog followed Steve to each vent and watched as he dusted it, opened the louvers, and felt to make sure there was a cool breeze flowing out. Finally, satisfied that the predicted 90 degree temps would not melt us, the team put away their tools and locked up the ladder. I was awakened by White Dog and Steve tugging off the blankets and asking, "Can you feel anything different?"

  6. Hi Everyone - We're glad that you got your cooling system running -- we checked the weather for Albuquerque and it looks as if this coming week is going to be very warm in New Mexico.

Make sure you chomp on some frozen ice/juice pops.

    Hugs and yips,
    Cappy and Ollie
