Today was WD's ultrasound to followup on the pancreatic cyst she had drained six weeks ago. We were all fairly confident that things were good based on White Dog's renewed energy and her interest again in eating.
Steve dropped the Little White Dog of My Heart off at the vet's office. They called about one to let us know she was done and that Steve could get her at four (so she had time to come out of sedation).
Dr. Julia felt the news was good. It took the Army and I a few minutes to process the news and see the "good" part. About half as much fluid had been drained from the cyst today and our beloved vet was pleased that it was such a small amount and that there were no signs of abscess. WE were expecting the area to be completely free of fluids and on its way to shriveling up.
"She may need to come in, hopefully with more and more time between, to have the cyst drained," Dr. Julia told Steve. "Let's see her again and six weeks and get a sense of what kind of pattern is developing. She is not in any danger unless it starts to abscess which is why we need to keep it drained and charted. What you are doing is working. She has gained some weight; she looks more engaged; and you know that if she suddenly gets lethargic or loses appetite to call."
White Dog's return home prompted a round of duck and sweet potato treats, followed by a personal mini meal of turkey to compensate for fasting all day. She also managed to eat a few mouthfuls of dinner before the events of the day caught up.
