White Dog brought Adam hurrying up from the basement to see what her commotion was about. It was the arrival of the mailman on the block accompanied by a supervisor who followed along at sidewalk level that looked suspicious enough to warrant White Dog's vigorous warning. She was so agitated that she knocked herself off her window seat and nearly toppled the lamp. Over the barking I reassured Adam that White Dog had everything under control. He returned to his work. White Dog continued to bark until mailman and supervisor drove off--in separate post office vehicles. Maybe it was the wasteful inefficiency that got her so riled.
