July 5, 2005

White Dog knows we are now on the back half of summer and she is subdued. We wait out the heat of this July afternoon in the swamp cooler's pleasant air stream and discuss the concept of change.

"If change is necessary and good," White Dog queries, "why are all creatures so comfortable in stable routines?"

"Excellent question," I agree as I stroke her ruff. "Here's another one--If change is how we grow and actualize, why do we fight it so vigorously on every level?"

"Go figure!" White Dog snorts as she heads to her bowl for a drink.

She never guesses the change in store for her tomorrow...or suspects that I would hold such secrets from her.
