White Dog was astonished when she went to the side window to investigate the commotion next door. There was a Black Lab scampering on the roof. (As far as we knew those neighbors don't even own a dog!) He was barking and whining for attention and was quite unattended. When he leaped down onto the entry's roof, White Dog yiped in fear for his safety.
We watched, fascinated, for several minutes but were distracted finally by the ringing phone. When we looked up again, the dog had disappeared.
"I wonder what that was all about," I said. White Dog shrugged and returned to perch on the sofa.
