White Dog gained a certain notoriety at the Shakespeare in the Park performance of Hamlet. Of course, she was admired for being beautiful and cultured but her Big Moment came early in the play. Hamlet, at the graveyard, sees the ghost of his father for the first time and entreats him, "Speak!" White Dog responded to the command perfectly on cue with clarity and emotion. She drew a response from the crowd and even Hamlet lost himself for a moment. At intermission, many came to meet White Dog as a result.
