White Dog was exhausted as we fell into bed at midnight. She had been called upon to fill a number of important duties that were not part of her normal routine. White Dog is for this weekend Max's babysitter and must make sure that he is cared for and that he behaves. She is nurse guardian of the still back agonized Steve and she is at his side as he sprawls awkwardly on the bed or creeps hunched over across the room. White Dog was also hostess. She made Gregg and Candace feel welcome and entertained and loved. Now White Dog is a very sleepy puppy curled into my knees and fast asleep.
