White Dog should have been surprised when Steve got up extra early to take her to the park before work. Instead she matter-of-factly sat in the leash chair waiting for him to get ready--as if it was her idea all along. Despite the just dawning darkness White Dog ran and romped and totally enjoyed Steve's largess. Steve's thoughtfulness seemed to help White Dog through the long work then school day in which Steve doesn't return home until after 9pm.
