White Dog and Dragon enjoyed the best dog day of the weekend in Denver. It was sunny and warm and full of great things to do; unfortunately it was also the day we had to drive back to Albuquerque. From the start it was the plan to do so much fun dog stuff that both White Dog and Dragon would sleep for most of the ride home. Both got pre-breakfast "farewell tours" of our neighborhood. White Dog shared breakfast of a cream cheese bagel and bacon with me. Steve felt sorry for Dragon and his bowl of kibble so he shared a bite of cream cheese with the pup. For Dragon it was swooning love and he followed Steve around for an hour begging for more. We packed up the car, headed downtown and took a quick walk around the U.S. Mint. Candace, Gregg and Steve wanted to tour the facility but the day's tickets were sold out...so White Dog and Dragon visited Civic Park instead. The long expanse of grass and great smells everywhere were very exciting to explore. By then everyone was hungry so we all headed to the very dog-friendly Larimer Square Historic District where we shared lunch on the sidewalk patio at Markets then strolled, window shopped and went into a few shops. Steve and Gregg bought books; White Dog bought a bacon-flavored rawhide and a stuffed kitty toy; Candace helped Dragon choose a rubbery blue bone (that hopefully will prove tastier than White Dog's tail). Treasures intact, it was time to head back to the Land of Enchantment. The long ride was broken up by rest stops for potty breaks and leg stretching. Lots of napping, both dog and human, made the miles seem shorter (Thanks Steve for doing all of the driving). White Dog and Steve had a wonderful time in Denver but both agree as they now cuddle on our couch that there is no place better than home!
