White Dog helped us decorate for the Christmas Eve Open House tomorrow. We hung the ornaments Steve's grandmother made in the 1960's in the front windows. We put wreaths on the front door and in the living room (it smells heavenly). White Dog sniffed and sniffed as she helped Steve arrange space for the Christmas tree...at the same time she helped me finish wrapping the last few gifts. Together we placed ornaments on the tree--each a gift over the years from friends. As we hung it, we remembered the particular person whose memento we were arranging. When the entire tree was filled with the spirit of friendship in the shape of beautiful (mostly handmade) ornaments, White Dog and I watched as Steve placed our one-winged angel on the topmost spike of the tree. Magnificent! Later, Adam came over to celebrate the holiday...he is going back East to visit ailing parents and won't be here to join us at the Eve. White Dog in her red Christmas bow snuggled against Adam and lit a Christmas warmth in him that he hasn't felt this year! White Dog was thrilled to share in her magic.
