October 20, 2009

White Dog rushed in to announce the imminent weather change. She had barely settled herself on my shoulder when the wind shifted and increased to hurricane force. The leaves were ripped from branches, trees bent over in a swoon and autumn's colorful ground covering flew in armies down the street. She looked at me nervously as the dark clouds marched across the blue sky and darkness swooped in. In less than five minutes it was thundering and lightening and raining torrents. White Dog shook and huddled closer in my arms as we both watched the intensity happening outside. When the hail began pounding on every window and drumming on the roof, White Dog took off for her safe haven way under the chair. The hail only lasted a few minutes but the rain continued the rest of the day and all night. Despite the wetness, White Dog and Steve did take a quick before bed walk when the rain slowed.

How scary! I'm so glad that the hail went away quickly. You must be so happy that you got your walk for the day.:) I guess that makes the rain almost ok.

That must have been scary - Phantom would have been hiding in his crate hours before the storm arrived.

Ohhhh. We're guessing the hail took down many of the leaves and broke others into shreds. Poor White Dog. We're glad you were home, and she knew where her comfort zone was. Storms can be so overwhelming. We really haven't figured out just what consoles us. We just look to Moma with that "Help!" look in our eyes.

Take care

Wow - I thought monsoon season was over?? How we wish you could send some of that rain our way - not the hail, or thunder and lightening, but any moisture would be most welcomed!!
