White Dog and Steve organized the Halloween procedure before he went to class...in case any very young tykes Trick-or-Treated before their afternoon nap. Steve adjusted White Dog's pillow at the window so that she could lay unseen and watch TOTers approach the door and then pop up in the window barking and "scaring" them. They filled a big bowl with candies and set it on the porch table within easy reach of the door. They cleared the steps of leaves so no one would would slip. They turned on the porch light, the universal symbol of "Trick-or-Treaters Welcome." Then Steve went to teach and White Dog waited...and waited...and waited. Steve came home; he and White Dog did front yard chores in hopes of spotting kids heading our way. All afternoon the neighborhood was painfully quiet. Night fell. One group of kids approached; we could hear them yelling "Trick-or-Treat" but they crossed the street mid block and didn't come to our house. Our one and only costumed visitor, Spiderman, knocked, sending Steve and White Dog into a frenzy and rewarding the child with a more than generous handful of candy. At 9:30pm the bummed and disappointed duo turned off the porch light and joined me to watch a movie.

This sounds much like our evening. We had one huge group of TOTers (actually we think it was two groups that converged at our house) and that was pretty much it. But we got ample pats and squeals from that one group. NEXT YEAR Moma is going to help us deliver invitations to all the neighborhood dogs and tell 'em to come in costume for a treat. We're pretty sure that will work. (We did hand out a couple, and made some deliveries today. But it's not as much fun in the daylight!) We gotta get these people IN THE MOOD!

What a bummer! We only had 2 groups of kids come see us for treats. I guess it's not that bad of a deal since the treats are now left for our pawrents to eat.

Too bad there weren't too many visitors. I hope you had fun though.

Btw, my wound is much better. Thank you for the healing vibes you sent my way. My mom did rewarded me with many treats everytime I allow her to clean it up.

Love,
Charlie

We were very disappointed here too. We had a very low turnout. Hard to understand with it being a Saturday too. We think Jake and Fergi have a great idea.

Aw, after all of your anticipation, Siku, and you only had one little goblin?

My parents put my practice necklace on my and let me sit out in the driveway with them and our neighbors for part of the night so that I would get to see the kids. It was fun, but some of the costumes scared me, so I went back inside and barked my approval of various costumes from safely behind the door.
