White Dog and Quinn are beginning to learn the advantages of cooperative behavior and it is a joy to watch develop. Today they realized that if one or the other comes in and interrupts me while I am at the computer, that I can reach down a hand and ear scratch while I continue to work. Although it feels nice, I am usually concentrating on the work at hand and do not give my full focus or attention on Eskie interaction. HOWEVER, if they both come in at once and station themselves one on each side of me and politely ask for petting, the results are very different and much more satisfying! To pet both at once I must stop keyboarding because both hands are required...and since I am not typing, I can make conversation and eye contact with the two squirming bodies pressed against my legs. We can all actually fully enjoy the moment and share a special camaraderie of being together, just we three.
