April 29, 2010

White Dog and Steve both looked into the kibble bin in amazement...we were completely out! B.Q. (before Quinn) the smallest bag of kibble lasted White Dog easily an entire month...especially since I cook chicken and rice and vegetables for the "main" food; kibble is supposed to merely supplement.

Michael calls Quinn, "our bottomless pit," and it does seem like he is ready to chow anytime of the day or night. We can no longer leave a bowl of kibble for White Dog to daintily nibble on throughout the day...the minute the bowl hits the floor the OTHER White Dog is there to devour the entire serving.

Tonight Quinn ate his chicken dinner, mooched bites from every one's plates, emptied out the kibble bowl, ate mango with Steve, practiced "Sit" and "Wait" (because he knows that that is the only way he had a chance of getting the treats he was begging for!). White Dog did not want to be cheated of her "share" of treats so she sat picture perfectly, took the goodies and hid them under her blanket (because she is not a chow hound and won't eat if she's not hungry). Quinn promptly went over and ate them! White Dog was not amused!

The OTHER White Dog is out lying next to the kibble bowl pushing it so it clinks against the counter...a reminder that it is empty. White Dog and Steve have already planned an early morning trip over to the Co-Op to pick up emergency provisions.

FAREWELL TO A FRIEND
We have just learned that our Japanese Spitz friend, Charlie, unexpectedly died of renal failure early this morning. His poor momma is in shock. This was the weekend he was to move back to his home with her after months of living at his Lola's while his house was being repaired from the earthquake. Please go visit Charlie's Cotton Candy Clouds and offer your comforting support. Thank you.
