White Dog lay next to me and Quinn stretched out between the legs of my easel as I painted this afternoon. It was warm but the shade on the deck made our spot comfortable. A total Monet moment, with dogs around me, the dappled garden abuzz with life, color tipped paintbrush in hand. It was pure bliss on many levels: the domestic tranquility, the lazy summer rhythm, the creative connection...it felt like we were isolated in our own little haven, perfect, and serene. I worked for nearly two hours; WD and TOWD watched, gently napped, and periodically asked for scritchings. When I began to clean brushes, they both sat up, stretched, and went back to their "normal" routine...magic broken.

Sigh, it is so hot here that when I try to paint on the porch everything becomes tacky very quickly...

One day...

Nope, magic is still there! That sounds like Daisy, waiting for me wherever I go.
I wanted to let you know both David and I will be back in NM soon - we just went on a getaway vacation. So in October we will still be going to the balloon festival and your art exhibit. :] He doesn't get deployed until May - so we still have several months of NM after we get back. No need to miss me yet. :]

Sounds like the perfect day! Your words are a wonderful 'painting' of the moment. Excellent prose!

We just stopped by to thank you from coming to our Gotcha party. We got to donates lots of green papers to our old shelter!

So we came to thank you, but we're staying for the content! We can't wait to read more.

That sounds like such a wonderful way to spend the day! Just nice, quiet, calm, serene - what I wouldn't give for a day like that (I tell myself that the kittens will calm down soon enough - but oh the crazy they can bring!)
