White Dog and The Other White Dog seem to move their relationship forward in spurts and hops...one minute it seems like they are making great progress in bonding, the next they cannot even agree to rest peaceably in the same room. But they are working on becoming a pack...slowly.

There is actually a third type of minute in their adjustment process: the using each other for mutual benefit moments. These are the times when my spidey sense tingles and I fear the day when they are fully in cahoots.

Tonight after dinner, the Fluffy Ones were swarming and restless. Steve was in the office and Michael in the shower. White Dog and Quinn both went into the kitchen, presumably to get a drink of water. White Dog came out a few seconds later and I heard rustling in the pantry area. I started to get up to see what was going on but WD was suddenly insistent on being petted and held in my arms, refusing to take "just a minute" as she scratched frantically to get into my lap.

"Where is TOWD?" I asked and she replied by licking my cheek to distract me. Holding my loving baby girl tightly I leaned very far forward so that I could see into the kitchen...and witness the Big Fluffy One's face plunged into the shelf which holds the sealed Rubbermaid tote of dog treats, trying to pry open the lid with his nose!

"What.Are.You.Doing?" was enough to send White Dog into the kitchen to touch her brother's snout and for both of them to head out of the dog door.

P.S. Happy Gotcha Day, beautiful Khyra and Happy Birthday to her wonderful mom!

Ha Ha, too funny. WD knew the spoils would be hers too if only she could keep you distracted long enough.
