White Dog is often frustrated and puzzled by Quinn's inconsistency. She doesn't understand why he was able to stay in the front yard, leashless, with her all morning as they supervised Michael washing the car and Steve doing tasks...only to bolt across the street senselessly without looking an hour later when they went to get in the car for a ride.

White Dog is bewildered at the Park by The Other White Dog's slow and ponderous strolling and sniffing as she tears madly across the grass doing zoomies and rolling in the fresh earthy smells. She was dumbstruck this afternoon, when joined by Dragon, TOWD shifted gears to an actual trot to "chase" after the little Honorary White Dog, White Dog (sitting next to me observing the action) commented that she thought that was the fastest she thinks she has ever seen her brother move, except for when he comes into the house after pottying and does zoomies of happiness (another mystery to her).

WD, who has grown up viewed through the lens of a camera can simply not understand why the mere sight of Steve raising the picture taking beast to his eye is enough to send Quinn running in fear for the nearest exit. We have experimented to discover it is not the flash...not the click of the shutter...but just the sight of the device in operation (he has no trouble with it inert on the table) that triggers his reaction. White Dog wants to laugh at his silliness but yet something holds her back...evolving compassion?...and instead she steps in to relieve his stress by calling attention...and the camera's glare to herself.

There is so much we do not know about our Rescue Boy. In many ways he will always be an enigma that neither White Dog nor us humans who share his life will ever be able to decipher...but I guess that is where the power of love steps in to bridge the gaps.

Love is a powerful thing.:) We wonder about lots of things concerning Sierra too. There are so many questions. We hope Quinn learns to love the camera. We love seeing pictures of you two.:)

Our rescue Lilly is a bit of a mystery too. But she's not talking!

Trust us - we rescues never tell the stories of our past except through these weird clues or a physical scar or too. Frankly, we would rather just focus on the present.

Rescues never seem to tell the full story and like to keep you guessing. But that is what also makes them love where they are today.

Maybe White Dog is just a ham for the camera more so than a protector :)

Oh, we understand that Quinn is still in what is really a very new situation - a small part of his life so far really. And we also understand why White Dog just doesn't understand - some day though!

And well, as far as the camera - if it is a digital, my thought is that it makes a sound he can hear, but you can't - some kind of electronic buzz. One of the cats growing up was terrified of the good camera because of the sound the flash made (this was the 70's so they were big and had that high pitched squeal) but the little point and shoot I had with the flash cube that didn't make that sound didn't bother her. Have you tried using a mechanical film camera - if you can even find one - to see if that makes a difference?
