September 15, 2010

White Dog was in one of her unpredictable moods today. This morning she sat side-by-side with Quinn to share bites of peanut butter toast with Steve at breakfast. But at lunch she went and hid behind the chair refusing to come out even for jerky until after The Other White Dog had eaten his portion and moved away. White Dog barely lifted her head from the arm of my chair to greet Dragon but when he came prancing into the living room carrying her pumpkin stuffie, she jumped down and hit the poor pup in the head with her paw...then she calmly picked up the toy and placed it on her blanket. Dragon's subsequent attempts to play with it were met with warning growls from WD. In the midst of this, she brought me a twig to trade, a beautiful leaf, and a rock. When Steve returned from work White Dog welcomed him like a conquering hero but moments later, snapped at him and pawed at his back when he stopped petting her to greet TOWD. Michael was perplexed when White Dog left abruptly mid tummy rub and refused to come back..."What did I do?" he asked.

The diva has her reasons...and her seasons, as they say. But we are ALL hoping White Dog is a little easier to anticipate come morning.

Sounds pretty normal to us, except it isn't us peaceful dogs with the moodswings, but rather the old grumpy biped, unless of course she sees a butterfly or new spider and then she perks up for a nano second or two.

Sorry to chuckel. But Siku sounds a bit like NinaGirl's new roommate. And the relationship sounds just as trying. Momentarily. We hope.

Paws crossed. With understanding.
