White Dog was discussing the Halloween protocol with the family's newbies, Quinn and Michael. "We generally don't carve a pumpkin," she explained, "but mom will buy a bunch of smaller ones and roast the seeds for snacks and bake the gourd for its meat to make pie and soup and pancakes and stuff all winter." Michael asked about trick-or-treaters. "Since we live in a college neighborhood we usually get about 3 or so kids a year and last year no one came by. BUT there is usually a pretty wild kegger party down at the other end of the block." And since this year the holiday is Sunday, we won't even be home during the day TOWD complained. "Michael volunteers and we will be at the Nature Center with Dragon and his family bike riding and having lunch." I suggested that he could stay behind if he really wanted to but he shook his shaggy head before I finished. "The only good part of Halloween here," White Dog concluded, "is that Dad always buys treats that we can all share...well except for the 3 pieces we actually hand out. This year I vote for fruit gummi bears...who's with me?"

In honor of the Spooky Weekend's beginning we then dove into bowls of pumpkin ice cream which Steve had decorated with peanuts to look like melty jack-o-lanterns.

Hi Everyone - Have a great Halloween weekend. We can't wait to bark at the little costumed beggars. Grandma is going to have to postpone her 7:00 PM bedtime for one night.

Pumpkin ANYTHING sounds wonderful.

Gummy bears are the best! Oh...and gummy worms. Yum!

Sounds like you guys are going to have a great dog even if you don't have many trick or treaters.

Loved hearing the stories you shared about Luke. That sounded pretty darn crazy. Glad they made it through safely though. WoW.

hey Siku Marie and Quinn,

Yummy pumpkin! Sounds like you have nice Halloween traditions! Good thing your humans don't carve pumpkins cuz they can be scary! My human loves carving pumpkins and at night they can be very spooky!

I like your plans for Halloween day. I hope you have great weather for your fun nature time with Dragon!

Sounds like a great way to celebrate Halloween to us. Last year we had so few visitors, we had tons of candy left over, most of which was chocolate:( This year the humans have some good TV shows to watch and they are really hoping for a light turnout - you know how THAT goes.

Happy Howloween.

And we live so far out in the sticks, we have not had a trick or treater show up once since we moved in years ago. If one ever did, we would be in trouble since we do not keep candy in the house.

We never get any kids. It's kind of sad, but then again, we kind of like the peace and quiet!
