White Dog and The Other White Dog dashed to the door the minute Pumpkin pulled into the driveway. "Hey, what about the bags?" I asked as they both headed for the minivan to get settled for the long ride. "I'll get them," Steve reassured them as he came into the house to change and make a pit stop before we hit the road for the long drive to Dallas. "Knew you would handle it," White Dog said, "but be quick about it."

"You are so bossy," I told her as I took my seat. White Dog smugly arranged herself on her makeshift "throne" and Quinn hopped up on the way back seat. "We have a sister to pick up," The Other White Dog reminded us. "We don't want to keep her waiting...what would she think?" "Cool your jets, White Ones, Nuka won't be in Dallas until tomorrow so we will be there in plenty of time!"

"You saw her travel photos. They gave her a military haircut! It will take her years to look like a proper Eskie again. We have to get there to prevent anything else from happening to her!" White Dog was still horrified at the grooming Nuka had been subjected to and was not about to standby silently about it. "We will be there to meet her; and please don't make her feel self-conscious about how she looks. She has been through enough." WD's gentle brother intervened.

With that Steve and Michael got in and we started the car. "Head South!" Michael directed. The adventure was about to begin.

I think she looks awesome with her haircut but she might need a nice sweater

Nuka is beautiful, no matter the haircut. We think WD is just establishing herself as the pack leader just in case AWD thinks she might be able to become queen:)

Hope you all have a safe trip both ways.

Congratulations on making such a loving and wonderful decision to adopt this beautiful sweetheart; we are so excited to meet your gorgeous new baby!!...We are trying to catch up with our wonderful friends on the weekends; our Mommy's new job, along with her part time one, makes it difficult to visit during the week now...We hope you all enjoy a fun, safe road trip together and wish Nuka an easy transition into your loving home, sweet friends; we are just honored to know such a fantastic family!...kisses...J, Calle, Halle, Sukki

We are sooooo excited and soooooo happy for you. And as for the haircut ... think of all the wonderful touch therapy for which Nuka is in store. Your hands can really really stroke her skin and she'll come to know your touch in a very special way. What a lucky girl. What a lucky family. Never again will we get another dog that's not a rescue ... and for sure we'll be open to an older dog. (People are amazed that Fergi is ten ... it's like she is experiencing being a puppy for the first time. We bet that will be the same for Nuka.)

Keep us posted and be safe!

Oh I missed yeterdays post and went back to look. I am so pleased that you are giving this gorgeous girl a chance. I love the haircut and it will soon grow back fluffy. Cant wait to see pictures and hear all about it. Mum had two spaniels befoe me and one Twinkle with age went blind which was ok as they could keep her in voice contact, then she lost her hearing too. Mum said they just adapted and Twinkle could feel vibrations and knew who was comming, she lived another two years happily like that. I know you will cope so well and love this little girl.. Hugs GJ xx

Did you know there's an eskie family who have an Atka and Nuka in their family? They're on Facebook, too. Atka is famous... they do shows and even got to be on Dogs 101 on Animal Planet!
