White Dog wondered aloud just when Santa's workshop had moved to the American Southwest. The coffee table was covered with bits and parts of gift projects, the floor held bags of ribbons and rolls of wrapping paper, and even though it was after dinner (ahem, relaxing time) Steve and I were busily assembling and packaging things to be wrapped.
Quinn and Nuka were having a field day sniffing and nosing through everything, making sure there was nothing edible to be supervised. Even Puff watched in bold fascination from the doorway. Michael was a little overwhelmed and wandered off to be alone; the holiday stuff seems hard for him and we are all trying to be understanding. White Dog sat high up on her throne (the arm of my chair) and happily surveyed the serfs at work. She even occasionally held a package with her paw until I could tightly tie a ribbon or place the tape. It was nice to be all together sharing the holiday preparations.
Santa and his elves could learn a trick or two from The White Dog Army!
Speaking of SAWD, she seems to be improving. Thanks to The Power of the Paw, positive thoughts and healing energy, Puff's haunted look is giving way to something less pained and more curious, and her sense of adventure is drawing her more and more often into where the action is. She is by no means cured yet, but her progress gives us hope on many levels.
