White Dog suggested that maybe the Sickie Kit wasn't powerful enough medicine and that we needed to call in someone to do an exorcism. For once, even Quinn didn't mind a grooming appointment and a chance to get out of the Hot Zone, aka our house.

Nuka's visit to Dr. Julia revealed that her ear infections are STILL raging. AWD has a history of these which has been a major contributor of her deafness. So she got more concentrated medication that is gel encapsulated and packed into her ear (thank goodness we do not need to do drops since she is not very cooperative). AWD also has some congestion in her lungs, the remains of a her flu so she is now also on antibiotics.

But Nuka is not alone in the White Dog Sick Ward. Puff over the past few days developed a deep racking cough and began rubbing her ears. We worry about SAWD and coughing since she is still mending from the ravages of heartworm. Her diagnosis? Also a severe ear infection and bronchitis. So Puff also has medicine packed ears, is back on a steroid, and is taking antibiotics.

As if that is not enough sickie-ness for one household, Steve put his back out last night and can barely stand upright. Of course, he has three deadlines at work so he cannot take time off AND this is his late night of teaching. Painkillers are out since he must think and drive. ibuprofen is barely subduing the throbbing. He says the best treatment is sitting in Pumpkin with his seat heater turned up to "high." Tonight it will be Tiger Balm and the heat massager so that he will hopefully be able to sleep.

Meanwhile, I have checked White Dog's ears nearly a hundred times and they look fine. She is getting annoyed at my overprotectiveness. TOWD is on my watch list because this evening he came for petting and seemed overly happy to just lean his left ear heavily into my hand...the ear is clear for now. Michael looked up sharply as I said "come here and let me check YOUR ears." It took a lot to convince him that I was joking (but it was really only half in jest)!

We hope the meds will help Nuka and Puff get better. We also hope your Dad gets better and that no one else gets the ear bug. We are sending lots of healing vibes.

Love,
Teddy Bear

Sheesh, your place sounds like ours was over the past few weeks, but with sick humans instead. We sure hope those ear infections and bronchitis gets under control - do they do tubes for dogs? Just kidding.

Here's hoping Steve finds some relief too - Mom loves her seat warmer too.

Wow...enough with the sickies your way. Hope all feel better soon.

My Grandpa's cocker spaniel used to have super bad ear infections and they ended up just removing the insides of her ears and sewing them shut because they just couldn't treat them and clear them up. After that she was perfectly fine.
