White Dog sat next to Quinn who sat next to Nuka. They were watching me do something I had not done in weeks and they were glad for the return of the tradition. Michael goes back to school tomorrow and I was making his brown bag lunch.

The White Ones love "helping" with this domestic task because they know that they will each get a nibble of turkey as we assemble the sandwich. When we bag up Veggie Straws, TOWD likes a spinach straw sample; WD the tomato; AWD isn't choosy at all. When she joins us, Puff, our traditional girl, prefers the potato ones. Although they did not want a segment, each had to sniff the tangerine before I peeled it.

As I started to put the lunch into the carry bag along with Michael's drink, I got strange looks from my fluffy "staff." What? I questioned with a shrug. "No cookie?" Quinn asked as White Dog pranced over to the remaining container of New Year's biscochitos (our state anise spiced sugar cookie) and looked pointedly. I sighed and put one cookie into a baggie...and was met with 6 eyes looking in dismay. "Oh jeez," I said as I took out another and broke into quarters. Each pup got a piece and then looked at the piece still in my hand...I walked over and slid the bite into Steve's mouth. I put the finished lunch in the refrigerator and before closing the door allowed WD, TOWD, and AWD to poke their noses in to make sure that it was readily accessible and safe from marauding wild dogs who might sneak in during the night.

Puff slept through the entire operation; she had received her last Heartworm treatment today and was totally wiped out. She did come out for dinner but went right back to sleep after. This, according to Dr. Julia, is to be expected, the medicine over the past two days has been pretty strong. Now, in her case, we wait and trust medicine...willpower...magic...and the Power of Love.

We still have our paws crossed for Nuka. It's a good sign that she's eating, yes?:) Oooh, tangerines and cookies. Yum. Daddy gets 2 cookies in his lunch every day. He says 1 cookies is just not enough.:)

Love,
Teddy Bear

Puff sweet woofie friend I just know you can get through this and then will be able to enjoy the new life you are going to enjoy so much. I can just picture the scene of you all helping mum make the packed lunch. I like to sit and help and of course sample some of what mum puts in. We got a gorgeous card from you in the post today. How lovely to get a picture of you all and see the delightful scene. Thank you. Hugs GJ xx
