White Dog stopped at the door and pulled Steve back into the house. She and The Other White Dog were on their way to be groomed and he was running late. "What?" Steve asked trying to get her back out of the door. White Dog looked at the duck jerky bag. "No treats now; we have to get going!" he responded but WD insisted on the bag...but she didn't want the treats (I discovered as I held one out), just the bag. Then it dawned on me.

Today is Official Random Act of Kindness Day. White Dog wanted to bring treats to share with the others at the Spa! Once Steve carried the bag, she pranced out at his side.

The day is, just as it says, a celebration of life by committing a kindness to someone unexpectedly and without provocation. Kind of a surprise niceness attack. What a great idea, The White Dog Army agreed, but why do humans need a special day for that? I left the question unanswered and challenged Puff and Nuka (who stayed home with me) to think of random acts.

SAWD, came up with the idea of a bottled water and cookie treat bag for the mailman. He knocked on the window and waved a "thanks." AWD came out into the yard to put sunflower seeds out for the birds. We sent bright yellow daffodils to a friend going through hard times, in hopes they would make her smile.

The big kids came home fluffy and white and anxious to join in the fun. When WD's trainer (a family friend now) phoned after a stressful work day, we invited her over for tea and White Dog love. As we caught up on FaceBook, Quinn suggested we make a small donation to a rescue which allowed a transport driver to afford the drive from the NW coast to California.

We did kind things for each other, too. Michael shared some new music. White Dog allowed SAWD to sit in her window seat even though she really wanted to. Nuka gave TOWD a kiss.

None of the things we did were earth shattering or monumental...but we like to think that we did make a difference by adding to the Positive Energy of the Universe. It felt good from this end, too!

Did you do anything to celebrate? If not, it is not too late, you know!

We had no idea...otherwise we would've brought treats with us to the VET. There were tons of other pups there.

We didn't know about this special day, but now we will have to think about some special things we can do. We know that your family lives this way every day and doesn't need a special day to show their love and kindness.

Thanks for the wonderful comment you left us.

I think you are a very loving and caring family and it is good to see. We also try to help when we can even if its just a small gesture. We mailed out three small packages today to try and chear up friends so I guess we joined in the day.. Hugs GJ xx

Mom occasionally bakes for the gardeners who do our lawns and the landscaping in our area. They arrive about 12 noon, eat their lunch and start work around 1:00 PM. She brings the *goodies* over around 12:30PM.

I bark at them (I bark at everyone), but Ollie is always nice.

Hugs and yips,
Cappy and Ollie

Oh I love this! And yes, we should all be kinder to one another - just because it's good to do so. Kudos to your universal goodness!

The disadvantage to falling behind: we missed the RAK day.

The result: we put in on our calendar for next year.

The simple realization: RAKs can (and should) happen every day.

So. We're gonna be thinking of things we might do today. Starting with sharing some of that AMAZING duck jerky with our neighbor pals as we go on our walk! They're gonna be in heaven!

OH! Evidence of one of YOUR (many) RAKs is on our blog today! We hope it makes you smile!
