White Dog and the rest of The White Dog Army welcomed Dragon this morning for our special mission. I have agreed to put together a 2MillionDog Puppy Up! Walk for Canine Cancer Awareness and Research in Albuquerque this summer and am scouting locations. TWDA, The Honorary White Dog and his parents, and Steve agreed to be my review team.

We visited two Parks here in town that we were unfamiliar with and had different reasons for liking each one. The pups were troopers in walking the paths and in scoping out the amenities (like the HUGE off leash area at the first). Next week, we will check out choices not so nearby. It was a briskly windy day but both Parks had a fair number of dogs and owners, which we took as a good sign (and in June Park activities should be EVEN more inviting)! The White Ones received, as they always do, LOTS of attention and our feedback to the upcoming event from the pup on the street (and their humans) was good.

Everyone was ready for a nap afterward. Dragon and his family went to watch football; we ran errands and prepared Nuka’s pre-birthday dinner of roasted chicken with apple veggie stuffing.

Showing that Senior can still be sexy, Another White Dog asked to wear her Playboy mini dress and flower choker for the evening celebration. WD, TOWD and SAWD resisted her efforts to get them to join her in formal attire. Gracious as well as beautiful, AWD still shared her baked beef leg bones and liver sausage frosted cranberry oat cookies.

Nuka will be ten in human years, tomorrow; she will be 53 in dog years. This we believe qualifies her for membership in AARP (or is it AARC…for Canine?) It is a common belief that 1 human year is equal to 7 dog years. That is not very accurate, since dogs reach adulthood within the first couple of years. The formula used above is from a canine expert and is a bit more accurate. (As accurately as one can judge these things). The formula is: 10.5 dog years per human year for the first 2 years, then 4 dog years per human year for each year after.

Tomorrow (Monday), on Nuka Angel Marie’s Tenth Barkday the White Dog Army invites everyone to stop by and view her new fashion video and leave a comment. As is our tradition, twenty-five cents will be donated to charity for every comment left. AWD has chosen to donate her birthday funds to ERU, Eskie Rescuers United, who saved her and fostered her until her forever family (us) found her. Please join us to celebrate...and spread the word!
