White Dog sat next to me as we brushed out first Quinn and then Puff on the deck. Both are blowing coat in clumps and seem to appreciate a little assistance in removing the itchy fluff. As we got a good handful-sized furpile, White Dog and I would take the ball of hair and put it in the tree branches for the birds to use as nesting material. As the grooming went on, the trees started to look festive and the other dogs began "helping" to choose the next hanging spot. It did not take long for the Gift of the White Dogs to be discovered by our local bird friends who were soon "shopping" in the trees for needed home construction materials. WD, TOWD, AWD and SAWD sat on the deck with me silently as we witnessed the recycling for awhile and soaked in the beautiful midday. Later in the afternoon, when I thought everyone was napping, I looked out to discover Nuka and Puff lying quietly together on the deck as they intently watched the birds come and go. And when I glanced in our bedroom (which overlooks the fur trees), White Dog was stretched out so that she could rest her head on the window sill and observe the hair disappearing tuft by tuft to become soft cradles for baby birdies.

We do the same thing ... and delight to find nests with Jake and Fergi fluff in the bottom ... creating a downy cradle. Isn't it lovely?

This is a lovely thing to do. When I brush Arwen's floof in the shedding season, I love watching it take flight and get caught in the trees. How sweet that the WDA witnessed the harvest. Such sweet souls!

hey White Dog Army,

Brilliant idea! I am sure all the birdies are tweeting the word that you pups are providing them with some lovely warm white fur for their homes. What kind and giving pups you all are! I bet it was so much fun to watch all the birdies coming around and choosing which furball to take.

We are in shock...that our Mom has NEVER thought of sharing our gorgeous white fluffy coat with all the birds that sit in our trees. Seven of us have been "BLOWING our coats" for the last two weeks. I hear my Mom telling people "I live in a sea of white dog hair"!Sooo we will insist that our coats be available to all the birdies from FL to NM (don't worry..we have enough nesting fluff).

I am happy for the birds that you provide them with this nice material! A friend once found a tiny birds nest outside a nursing home for old people, constructed entirely of white hair!

Mom likes to brush us outside to - if it is a windy day, it is a bonus. Ciara likes to grab her blowing furs and tries to eat them - silly girl. When we are all in full-blowing mode, it can look like a snowstorm hit the yard:)

Hi Siku-Marie,

We received our lovely auction prize today! Thank you so much. I've eaten half the gummy bears already..haha!

Our groomer puts out Wyatt and Stanzie's fur, after they have their spring Aire-cut. It's a pillow case size bag o' fur. The birds must build an entire condo :)

It's pouring rain here, think we will go watch the movie..thanks again.
