April 4, 2011

White Dog had just gotten resettled on the bed like she does every morning after Steve rises to get Michael off to school and have some quiet time of his own for meditation and exercise. We usually cuddle together and enjoy another 45 minutes of pre-alarm snoozing before Steve returns and the day officially begins.

BUT Steve's new schedule at school requires that he be the administrator to "open" the school one day a week (this semester that day is Mondays). He must be there by 7am...half an hour earlier than White Dog and I usually crawl out of bed. Steve and I have a tradition of sharing some kind of breakfast and starting the day together. So on Mondays, White Dog and I rise early and we join him as per our routine.

Puff, daddy's girl, never fails to be there prancing at his side with a happy look as WD and I scrub the sleep from our eyes and gratefully inhale the coffee. Nuka comes out about midway through breakfast and before greeting anyone goes out to the kitchen to check the food dishes. We can often hear Quinn shaking himself awake several minutes before he actually makes an appearance. TOWD says his "good mornings," sniffs the breakfast menu, and then usually heads back to bed.

At least when Steve gathers his gear and heads for the door at 6:40am it is now light. WD watches from the arm of my chair; Puff from the window; and Nuka from the door as Steve backs out of the drive and pulls away. Ten minutes later, all of the White Dogs are soundly back asleep.

hey White Dog Army,

What a sweet story! I am sure your dad appreciates you getting up to share your mornings with him. Such a nice way to start the day!

Suka

p.s. I also like that the sun is out longer each night. :->

Love the morning routine. We hope there were extra naps today to make up for starting the day earlier than usual.:)

Hi Friends,

Thanks for your well wishes. I am home safe and sound from my dental - though still a little groggy and sore. I had to have one of my back molars extracted - OUCH!

Your pal, Pip

Sounds like a great routine!
Mom says she would LOVE another BT, but dad (as always!) says no! :(
Thanks for thinking of us though!!!

Mom is very jealous. We are all the first ones up and it is waaaaaayyyyyyyy before 6:00. So she is an early riser partly by choice and partly because of us:) She hopes one day we will all sleep a lot later.

We must admit you have a great way to start the day.

Fun how we all have our morning routines. Wish we could stay at home with the pups and still afford the houses. :)

Routines like yours are very nice, to send off the working people with good wishes. We here are retired people, so sometimes my Mom is up at 7 am and somedays sleeps until later. But I get up at 8 am on the dot and look for breakfast. My Mom fixes it for me too!

Kisses,
Stella

I love your ritual of eating together in the mornings, although those early starts really are hard. I have to be at work by 6:45 so I understand. A bit of meditation and exercise would be wonderful each morning, but I am too unconscious for anything more than a quick shower! You'll get used to is soon enough ;)
