White Dog said, as we steered him away from poor Puff for the godzillionth time this morning, "maybe we should consider renaming him Yo-Yo-No! instead of YoYoMa!" To say that SAWD's womanly condition is throwing a wrench into the clockwork operation of The White Dog Army would be an understatement.

Not that YAWD can really help himself, but Quinn is managing to keep some decorum and a gentlemanly interest that that doesn't include chasing her across the house, burying his nose into her backside and grabbing at her hips. TOWD is touching noses a lot and lingers next to SAWD but no zippy rap video moves.

The ride in the van to take Michael to volunteer at the Shelter went smoothly because the girls, AWD and SAWD, where seatbelted on the back seat. The boys were anchored on the middle seat area of the floor. Michael filled the middle seat making things too close and supervised for much "fun." WD watched sternly from her co-pilot seat, turned backward so she could monitor the goings on.

Saturday's traditional mid-morning walk was a logistical nightmare. As head of The White Dog Army, White Dog was called upon to help Steve figure out how to make sure every one got to walk, no one was harassed, and no one felt slighted.

After studying the combinations and permutations, they decided that the boys would go first as WD charted their march by doing zoomies along the course. YoYoMa is a surprisingly good leash walker and stuck by Steve's side without faltering a single time. Even though the mesa is relatively flat, we were mightily impressed until the end of the walk when he LEAPED back into the car and tried to use the "I am just a lonely recruit" line on Puff.

The boys were then left behind as Nuka and Puff followed their leader on a different route briskly double-timing at points. This time, White Dog went to the van door first so that when it was opened to let AWD and SAWD enter, she could make sure TOWD and YAWD knew she would tolerate no bullying.

All afternoon and evening, YoYo has lived true to his name...bouncing out to push his head in SAWD's crate or nose her wherever she rests, then snapping back to my side as I growl, "YoYo come back here!" Just to give everyone a break, we took our little timid girl with us when we went to the grocery. She appreciated the quiet and when we returned, White Dog thanked us for the respite. As White Dog and I record this, SAWD rests safely under Steve's feet at his computer desk and YoYoMa is stretched across the hallway recharging his "batteries."

It is going to be a LONG couple of weeks.

Do you have a friend near by that could take Puff on a "retreat" until her female goings on are done? I feel for you and Steve and the WDA as you go through this most sensitive time for Ms. Puff.
Much love,
Mama Mindy of The Slimmer Puggums

Gizmo's name for many, many months was "Giz-NO." It's all about patience...

HAHA - our vari-word is 'eurogram.' Perhaps we all need a vacation... :-)

Poor Puff. Maybe the Puggums have a good idea. It can be hard. They make some cute panties for these times. They have lace and all sorts of cute girlie stuff. Make sure she stays clean. There is a very bad disease that girl doggies can get during there "time" that can end lives. Pryometeria or something like that. One of my best Welsh friends got that disease, and she was very sick for a while. She got over it, but it was very dangerous for her. If she gets sluggish or starts looking different, please be careful.
