August 1, 2011

White Dog could not believe her ears this morning when Steve summoned her up on the bed VERY early and whispered to her, "It is still cool and I miss our time together; don't wake anybody and let's just you and I go to the Park." She squirmed like a pup and sat on Steve's chest. She pressed her nose against me and then quietly hopped off and followed Steve out of the room. A few minutes later I heard the front door softly open and then close.

They were gone for more than an hour and none of the other White Dogs was the wiser. Nuka woke up when they came back and yipped wanting to know where they had been but Steve bribed her with a few treats and WD snuck back up on the bed where she rested curled against my legs. She radiated happiness. Steve confirmed that White Dog greeted the sun with long flowing zoomies across the grass bathed in the rays of the new day. "She still takes my breath when she runs like that," he said as he kissed me then headed for the shower. Her contented sigh made me smile.

Later the heat built up (although we only got into the lower 90's) and the White Dog Army stretched out for a post-lunch siesta. YoYoMa cleared his throat and displayed the stuffie he had dug out of the toybox, "I just want to remind everyone that there are only 2162 hours until Halloween. Have you thought about your costume? I am going as Forder, one of the Three Blind Mice from Shrek! hahahahaha!" His sisters and brother looked at him wondering whether the heat had gotten to him. Yo just snuggled against Pumpkin and winked.

Summer fun: A bag of famous White Dog Army Duck Jerky to the first correct answer giving both names of the other two Blind Mice in the film.

hey White Dog Army,

What a wonderful post to read after being away for so long! I am so furry happy that sweet Siku Marie had special alone time with her dad. I bet it was heaven running with the sun in the grass, Siku Marie! My human said she can understand how your dad feels watching you run. Very sweet story!

YoYoMa is a riot! I bet his costume will rock! If I am correct, the other two Blind Mice are: Gorder and Horder. So, which two White Dogs will go as those two characters? :->

Suka

p.s. LOVE your new header! The pictures are so pretty, and you did a great job putting it together. Such beautiful pups!

Suka, you are right! Duck jerky winging its way to you! So far no takers on the other mice. Hansel mom from The World of Hansel did the header as a gift...isn't she thoughtful?

Well, you got me. Don't have a clue. But so great that Steve was able to sneak away with Siku and enjoy some zoomies. Around here we love that one-on-one time. It is the best!!

Yep, mommy said it was Gorder and Horder -- I had no idea.

Not sure what I'm gonna be for Halloween. Mommy wanted me to be a 3 headed dragon, but I don't do costumes too well.

One-on-one time rocks! Glad WD was able to have that time. :)

Woofs & hugs <3,

~Bailey (Yep, I'm a girl!)

How sweet that they had some one on one time at the park. I love early mornings when the world is quiet and peaceful (and cool). It's a great time to spend time by yourself or a special friend.

Mom would never be able to get out the door with one of us. None of us know how to make a quiet exit:)

But we do think it is very special to have that time with Dad alone.

Congrats to Suka, she is going to LOVE that duck jerky.
