White Dog wasn't sure she liked tomorrow's plan of dividing up the White Dog Army but gave in when she could find no holes in my argument. With only four weeks left until the 2MillionDogs Puppy Up New Mexico Walk for Canine Cancer we are increasingly pushing to get the word out about the Event. Visiting shops and stores to ask them to hang posters, dropping off announcement cards to places where people will grab one to take home, leaving notices on both actual and virtual community bulletin boards takes more and more of our free time. The payoff, we hope, will be a large turnout of Walkers to raise awareness about Comparative Oncology as well as drawing lots of the general community to the Event for what might their first exposure to the cause.

Albuquerque has a fairly active dog community and we have spent the past couple of weekends stopping by other dog events to network and spread the word about September 25th. We have gotten a great response.

Tomorrow we plan to go to Wolfstock, an festival event to raise money for building a new shelter in a nearby mountain town in the late morning. In the evening our local American Cancer Society is holding its Bark for Life Walk to raise awareness about human cancer.

Of course, we plan to have representatives of the White Dog Army at our side but fear that two highly social and demanding adventures in one day might be too much for the White Ones to totally enjoy. Instead we have proposed that White Dog and YoYoMa attend the morning's activities and that Quinn and Puff go to the Bark which will be lower key. Nuka will get some "dad and me" time in the afternoon perhaps going for a treat ride; she is still too excitable for us to feel comfortable with lots of people and dogs adding pressure to her social skills.

At first White Dog balked at the thought of breaking up the Army but the idea grew on her. When we laid out out our Plan to the others after dinner, she was a calm voice stressing the advantages of splitting up the tasks. The WDA felt as long as everyone got a turn to be in the spotlight and that there were apres treats, that they approved...

Of course, tomorrow morning I still expect a mad rush by everyone to the door when it is time to leave.

Divide and conquer!! Just think there will a continuous cycle of WDA for all the city to see! :) And remember even if you think you are apart, you all represent the WDA and will spread the message even further. :)

Although I have no suggestions on how to stop the stampede to the door!!

I know that even though you will have separate tasks, the WDA will bring everyone together for this important event!

Have fun! It sounds amazing. Can little Nuka go in a baby stroller? She will be the hit of the event.

The WDA will work together by separating to get the word out. Cancer has hit our canine family three times since 2003, the latest being our sweet Tucker. It would be so great to see this deadly disease just go away.

I am picturing the WDA high-fiveing and breaking into different directions. All paws crossed for a HUGE turnout!
