White Dog was out with Steve bright and early setting up the space to letter the feather banners which will mark the way to the Park for the Puppy Up Canine Cancer Walk. They are 11' tall so Steve was pretty much reduced to stretching the bright orange cloth down the driveway and working on his knees. TOWD, AWD, SAWD and YAWD watched from the front doorway (which Steve had baby gated so all could supervise). This was a prototype for Steve's method; there are a total of six flags all together. The work went smoothly and looked great. There was some bleed through and sticking to the paper letter template but once the paint was thoroughly dried it was possible to remove the stuck bits on the back ("Whew!" sighed White Dog). The goal is to try and do one flag per morning.

With only four weeks left until the Big Event, we are all feeling the pressure of the clock to get things done. But the pups were exhausted from the social demands of yesterday's double charity outings. We kissed each on the head, gave jerky treats and left them behind as we headed off with posters of the Event to try and get the Puppy Up Walk publicized in every store and coffee shop we could find.

We started with the area closest to the Park where the Walk is being held; Gregg and Candace attacked the area next door. Our plan is to work our way out to the fringes (with the exception of our home neighborhood which has already been VERY supportive even though the Walk is 15 miles away). The White Dogs waited at the door when we returned very late in the afternoon. "WELL?" was the Universal greeting. We had hung 23 posters and talked with dozens of people about canine cancer, heard their stories, and shared news of our Walk. Candace and Gregg beat us with 28 and they, too, were amazed and excited by the conversations about comparative oncology and sharing hope that cancer will be beaten for all.

The White Dog Army rubbed against each of us and shared kisses of pride. They reminded us that we still had LOTS of posters to hang in town and in Santa Fe yet but White Dog congratulated us on a job well done.

Then attention turned to the two bags of styrofoam Gregg carried from our favorite taco place. Smiles widened and snooters sniffed. There is nothing better after a hard day's work than tacos el pastor or bistek or brocheta (or as YoYoMa commented, "One of Each!") slathered in spicy tomatillo salsa and a cervaza. And the White Ones? "Hey," White Dog rationalized, "We may have been back home but it is VERY hard work keeping all of that positive energy and long distance focused thought going!"

Nice work and yum to tacos!

Thanks for your nice wishes on the sale of our building. To answer your question, the preschool where my sissy has been for the last 2 years also has a kindergarden program so she will stay there for the year and begin first grade fall 2012 in a new school. This way her school year won't be disturbed. We probably won't be moving until October. We haven't even started looking for a new house yet! Better get to work! We are hoping to find something in a nearby suburb, not too far outside the city since both my parents work in the city.

Your pal, Pip

So exciting to prepare...I'm about 2/3 finished with the doll and just ordered my business cards which should be here in a week. It feels wonderful to be a part of something GOOD!
