Last year, this was the banner we carried in Fort Collins; this year we have an entire Wall

White Dog helped me work on the list of signs we need for the 2MillionDog Puppy Up New Mexico Walk to end cancer. We decided that a good strategy in organizing would be to break up the Event into specific areas like the registration area, the games area, and so on. Then we would look at each area and chart all of the signs we would need. Daisy Mae (Quinn's White Poodle Love) and Maple's mom is helping with the posters and this would allow us to work together without overlap.

The first area we tackled was the Tribute Wall where we hope people attending the Walk will hang photos of loved ones or leave written recognition of those (human and canine) who have battled, who have lost, who we remember. It is also the place where those who Walk beside us can be recognized...an important reminder that we do not walk alone. In many ways, to both White Dog and I, this is one of the most important elements of the Walk...the place where the community is recognized...the hands and paws united across space and time to show our solidarity in defeating this monster. Cancer.Touches.Everyone.

It is for this part of our Event that the White Dog Army tonight makes its strongest pleas for your support. In our blogging community, we are already united against the c monster. It is here where we feel our strongest camaraderie. It is here where we are joined in the Power of the Paw that the truth that We must all be part of finding a cure becomes a reality.

It is in recognition of these ties and your support that we ask you to send us your photo to add to our wall...and if you have no photo, send at least a word of encouragement that we can hang. Just an image is fine, something more elaborate if you choose, but we would be honored to fill the fence with faces and families and friends from all over the world who join us in spirit and heart on this Very Special Day. We do not march alone. We promise to do you all proud.

You can send your messages, photos, memorials to us at sehismith@aol.com We will print them out and hang them with love and thanks on September 25th. Thank you so much.

This post brings tears to my eyes. You guys are doing such a great job. If I get a chance, I will pull out my old external hard drive and get a picture of our little Doxie, Tiffany. She fought a long hard battle with cancer for 9 months. She won a lot of battles but eventually lost the war due to this dreaded disease.

You are an army of saints. I love the idea of the wall, and I'll be sending a couple of photos of the dogs who I've lost to cancer. I also lost my mom but I just realized that I have no digital photos of her because the notion of digital photos didn't even exist when she was alive. I need to fix that situation.

Oh gosh, I would love to send you a couple of pictures for the tribute wall. My feline sister Daisy and my feline brother Tommy both passed away of cancer.
