September 12, 2011

White Dog sat next to me at the computer desk. Steve had just finished reconnecting my tried-and-true trustworthy old computer. It had a new hard drive and totally updated everything as well as more memory. White Dog leaned against the humming black CPU and looked at me. I just stared, mumbling silent incantations that all would now return back to normal. Steve leaned over my shoulder. "You turn it on here, like you always..." I interrupted him, "I KNOW how to use my computer, it is just..."

"Oh my dog," WD snorted. "She's tearing up!" "AM NOT!"

With that I fired up my lifeline and nearly instantly the screen blazed to life. I opened the Internet and there was no swirling circle as the computer caught up to me. I could no longer type faster than the machine could think...the letters all actually appeared without stumbling (humiliating after the powerful feeling of being super typist on the work around system I had been using). I opened four different tabs on the desktop AND sent a page to print...zoom...zip...no problems.

I once again had my graphics programs and my 3D modeling and my photo programs. Woohoo! I am in business again! I kissed Steve until WD cleared her throat to interrupt and then I grabbed her into a bear hug. After 30 seconds she struggled and squirmed free then trotted into the hallway.

"Come on dad," she woofed. "lets go play. Momma will be celebrating with her computer for a while."
