White Dog and White Dog Army Countdown to the Puppy Up New Mexico Walk to end cancer...It is TODAY!

ARE YOU READY TO PUPPY UP?

White Dog and the rest of the WDA were up and ready to go to the Park at daybreak. While Steve packed a few last things into the trailer and fed the pups, I quickly checked email to discover the woman who was to run the dog costume contest (and who had all of the materials) had the flu and would not be attending. Then Daisy Mae's mom came in from my studio; she had tears in her eyes. "Bino (our grand marshal of the Walk) was not going to be able to make it; he had damaged a tendon." Oh, and once we got to the Park (far enough away that a return trip home was not practical)we discovered that we had forgotten the iced tea (for the snack shop) and the diagram of booth spaces. White Dog and I sat together to recenter and to focus on the energy that surrounded us.

This was a Walk of Warriors all focused on the same goal. We would walk together shoulder-to-shoulder rather than following another's lead. This was true solidarity; we had the momentum and the drive to deliver a powerful message, many voices united as one, with no need for a spokesman...

cancer, your days are numbered!

And so we began, 115 humans and 155 dogs.

Hey....it would be very unusual if everything went perfectly. You had a nice crowd there. And I bet no one even missd the ice tea!!!

Smile.....the sun still came up this morning, right?

Although a couple of small things went awry, the overall goal was a smashing success. The WDA showed what a big difference they can make. We are all very proud of you!

Wow, like Kari said, that's a lot of paws walking!!! It sounds like you were able to overcome the minor hiccups, which happens to everyone. Congratulations on the walk! You and Steve and the White Dog Army are so thoughtful and generous and kind and giving, to have organized the walk. We are patting you on the back!
