October 10, 2011

White Dog and the White Dog Army craned their necks to see the mountains; they had heard that it had snowed yesterday but they were not sure they were ready to believe it was "That Time" yet.

And yet, the mornings now are cold and we sleep later huddled all together and when the alarm tells us we must awaken NOW the WDA dashes out for morning rituals and then quickly hurries back inside. Although the days are still pleasantly in the 60's no longer do all the windows invite the outside in...and the front door to the sun porch no longer stands fully open all day (this particularly makes Quinn, YoYoMa, and Puff sad as they loved to summer nap there). At night, before-bedtime walks are brisk and invigorating...but Steve pulls on a sweatshirt before leashing up the crew.

This morning before Steve left for work (it was a late morning for him), he took the Army by pairs out for a neighborhood walk. Everyone was feeling sort of restless and melancholy as they captured some last glimpses of summer's splendid color...soon to be replaced by the colors of autumn...changing leaves, russet landscapes, white capped mountains.

In Alaska we used to call the snow coming down the mountains "Termination Dust"

Oh what beautiful photos. We have our Spring here to enjoy. Its funny isn't it reading about the opposite season to what we are experiencing here in Oz. Take care all. No worries, and love, Carol (and Stella and Rory)

Wee nose you hates to say goodbye to summer. Mee doesn't have to say goodbye to summer, but would sure love to see some cooler weather once in a while. And what do autumn leaves look like? We don't have those either.

I can't believe it is almost winter already. Where oh where did the summer go? The leaves here in Ohio didn't really change colors as much as they normally do.
