White Dog listened attentively to Michael as he wondered why all of the stores already had all of their Christmas merchandise on display. He had gone to the mall for some gaming supplies and came back agitated that "everybody was rushing things."
Later, WD and Quinn came and sat next to me while I worked. I could sense they had something on their minds. "When is Christmas?" TOWD asked. "December 25," I answered. "No, he means how LONG until it is Christmas?" WD explained.
I opened a new tab on the computer. "I don't know. Let's find out!"
Turns out that there are 53 days until Christmas...1275 hours...76,484 minutes.
"That seems like a long way off," Quinn said losing interest and wandering off. "That is less than TWO months," White Dog replied in astonishment. "Where has the year gone?"
Nuka walked in at that moment and White Dog turned to her, "Do you know that in just a couple of weeks you will be celebrating your first Gotcha Day with us...and then a few days later Puff will celebrate hers?"
"Cool, do I get a party?" AWD asked missing her sister's point. "Yeah, but the important thing is that in no time at all Thanksgiving will be here and then Christmas and then the end of the year. Where is time going so fast?"
"Whoa, White Dog," Yo said lifting his head from where he had been sleeping at my feet. "Thinking like that is for marketing people and advertisers and people that want you to worry about tomorrow instead of enjoying today."
"I know, it is like that Albert Einstein saying: I never think of the future. It comes soon enough." White Dog agreed, "but still, it IS only 53 days until Christmas, I am starting my Wish List!"

Michael is wise. It is too early for Christmas in stores. It takes away from the meaning of Christmas when it is so commercialized so early.
So...Nuka and Puff have big days coming up?! Very exciting! I am sure you will both have pawsome pawties!!

Yep...This is FLORIDA for pete's sake and the Christmas decorations have been up for more than a month already. In fact...There were Christmas trees in the Halloween aisle that went up just before Labor Day (in August). Come on retail...give us a break. This gives Santa sitting on a tropical beach a whole other meaning!
I know just what you mean and where on earth has the year gone. It seems like only yesterday we were celebrating last year and wow two gotcha days soon that has flown by.. Hugs GJ xx

Christmas is coming very quickly - all that hustle and bustle, and before you know it, it has come and gone. Time goes by much too quickly.
We are all excited for those upcoming gotcha days.

someone said the other day that there was only 8 mondays until christmas or something like that and it really stopped me in my tracks and I had to realize its right around the corner. I agree the stores do rush the xmas stuff!
