December 20, 2011

White Dog like most everyone in our blogging community has spent the past days in grief-stricken tears tempered with bursting pride in our family of two- and four-leggeds. It has swelled our souls with an hallelujah chorus over the outpouring of support and help and understanding that has swept across the world to give comfort to one of our own. This time we only had to look out our front door to see clearly that it IS a wonderful world, despite the tragedies and uncertainties that surround us.

And now an incredible idea of creating a  Memory Quilt for Sandra is being planned to help her through her pain. It will be queen sized and will have the five Angels' likenesses appliqued on it. The quilt will be made by Agnes Bullock... of the Dachsies With Moxie. It will be ready by Valentine's Day. Agnes (affectionately know as.. What's Her Name, by her furbabies) had an even MORE wonderful Idea.. She is willing to put a bit of YOU into the quilt. Agnes will stitch a Small (6 inch SQUARE) bit of cloth that Means something to YOU into the quilt. That way Sandra will have the most PERSONAL tribute to her beloved ones possible.

If you would like to send a BIT of YOU to be included in the quilt we know that it would mean so much to Sandra. WHAT would work? Bits of your first Blankie... scraps of beloved Stuffies... material from your favorite BED or a Tee Shirt or other of your "clothes".. heck... even a piece of your Baff Towel. Remember Whatever scrap of TREASURE you choose... must be WASHABLE and it must be Flat... Not like a Collar or a Rope toy.. so that it can actually be stitched into the quilt. I think you get the idea. Just make it be something that has Meaning to YOU. I KNOW... you don't want to cut up a treasure... but it is a small scrap... and that little Hole that is left behind for You to see will help remind you of what you DO have. Small sacrifice on OUR part... to Help Fill a HUGE HOLE in Sandra's World. RIGHT?

DEADLINE to SEND your Beloved piece of your
Cat or Dog's
LIFE... is January 16,2012.

Please Email Agnes at
trainwife1962 AT hotmail DOT com for the Address of where to send your 6 inch square. You MUST say: Pittie Pack Quilt in the subject line to ensure that it does not go to SPAM... You will receive a reply with the mailing Address.

A reminder: The White Dog Army wants our community to be thinking of where each of you might spread a bit of Christmas magic. Siku Marie's (The White Dog) seventh birthday is December 22nd, this Thursday. To celebrate, her brothers and sisters will randomly draw seven lucky winners from the comments left on her day. Each winner have the opportunity to choose a charity recipient of a special prize...and White Dog will have the thrill of her favorite kind of bash, a Pay It Forward Party.

P.S. For all of our jealous friends who thought Albuquerque was being blanketed with double digit depths of snow last night...our mountains, indeed, got a major frosting and looked glorious this morning. Here in town we got a couple of inches that were mostly washed away as the sleet and rain pushed the snow out. Overnight we had more issues with icy roads than with white stuff...still, we hope the wetness coming your way DOES become the elusive (apparently) white dust for which you yearn.

Yes, it has been quite an emotional roller coaster the last few days ...from tears to smiles to tears again ...we will definitely participate in the quilt.

We will also be back tomorrow for the birthday celebration.
