December 25, 2011 after the fact

White Dog and the rest of the White Dog Army slept in on Christmas Day. After all, the last Open House guest from our Christmas Eve party did not leave until 1:30am on Christmas Day ("Is that allowed for a Christmas EVE bash?" YoYoMa yawned).

For the first time ever the White Dog Army had visitors drop by to see them. Of course Dragon was there, being an honorary White Dog, but the Army met Biscuit for the first time. Eskie Biscuit is newly transplanted from Alabama and used her Southern charms on our gentleman, Quinn, who spent the evening showing her the best spots to lie in and how to use the dog door and which treats were the best. A first time guest, Fred longingly said, "if only I had know it was OK" often enough, that White Dog finally sent him home to fetch his very long eared cocker spaniel and his feisty little Boston terrier...they had a great time when he returned.

After so many days of preparation, it made the WDA's heart sing as guests loaded up plates with pulled pork (which had tortured those here as it slow cooked for nearly an entire day), curried chicken noodles, a spicy vegetable rice, Swedish meatballs (Quinn's, and now Biscuit's favorite), dips and crudite, cute little ham sliver croissant or Italian salami sandwiches,  a cheese tray (with White Dog's favorite, triple creme brie), and mostacolli (my mother's recipe and a tradition). Michael's guacamole, his first effort at party cooking turned out to be a big hit.

The dessert table was equally laden and centered with the gingerbread doghouse, which we did indeed start nibbling on at the end of the night. The White Ones each got their own gingerdog and happily munched down Steve and White Dog's efforts.

Christmas morning slowly started with our tradition of Christmas cookies along with coffee for breakfast as we opened gifts and then languished nibbling as we geared up for the day. Late afternoon we took a ride and went to the Park (in the northern part of town where there is still snow). Our Christmas is a completely no hassle, no schedule form form day which is rare in our lives. We graze from leftovers and just soak up the joy of being together. It leaves us feeling blessed and filled.

We hope that each of you had a moment of such bliss in your day...and that you were sprinkled with the magic dust that comes but once a year. May the smiles and warm feelings and contentment and sense of all being right continue clear through the New Year.

Here are some random photos of our day...
