December 4, 2011

White Dog came bursting into the office after her pre-bedtime walk, eyes wide and out of breath. YoYoMa followed slightly less dramatically but still looking like something was wrong.

I heard Steve shut the front door and called out. He too, appeared and was shaking his head. "WHAT!" I said looking at the three of them. "It's like the Werewolves of London," White Dog panted. "Worse than pea soup," Yo agreed, adding, "ummmm now THAT sounds tasty!" "We want soup and to meet the wolves," Nuka and Puff clamored! "No you don't!" White Dog cautioned. "YES we do," they countered. "How come...." "Everyone! Please! Will someone tell me what this is all about?" I begged. Quinn, next to me, looked expectantly at Steve.

"We have lived here, what? 15 years? We NEVER have had fog...and fog like this," he said showing me the photo. "We live in the desert; this doesn't happen. But go look.
"I could barely see WD at the end of her leash."

"It WAS scary, momma" WD said, "I was trying to watch Yo and he kept disappearing!"

I went to the front porch, followed by the White Dog Army and Steve. They were right; it was thickly foggy and it was hard to see past the end of the driveway. The street lamps were eerily distorted and the normally busy Route 66 (Central Avenue) was nearly silent. And it was COLD!

No one argued when I said, "Let's go inside and lock the door and have our bedtime treats. We can all cuddle together. No werewolves allowed"

hey White Dog Army,

I bet that was scary, experiencing something new and creepy like fog! Especially at night, and on a cold night! Fog takes getting used to, but it still can be a bit freaky. So furry happy you pups made it all home safely. :->

Nuka and Puff, I am not sure you would want to meet a Werewolf. True, we are closely related to wolves, but Werewolves might not care about that. They just may see two tasty white morsels! :-0

p.s. Do your peeps have any idea what caused the fog? Very interesting.

Fog is like a natural occurrence around these parts, but you never really get used to the eery feeling it evokes. So I can't imagine if you witnessed it for the first time and so thick. Yes, get inside, locks the doors, and cuddle tight.

First wind storms, then snow, the fog...what in the world could be next for the WDA??

Wow! Fog is quite common here too, but driving in it is VERY scary. It really is BEST to stay in your bed...in your nice safe house!! xoxo Chloe and LadyBug

Yep, that is scary stuff! In the south if it gets cold enough we can have frozen fog!

That does sound creepy! I'm glad that the coyotes didn't start howling while the WDA was outside. Then, they'd have been truly freaked out!

Hi White Dogs, we get lots of fog in winter in the hills. It can be kinda spooky for sure. Good excuse for you all to snuggle together. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
