White Dog and The White Dog Army
Wonderful World Wednesday
White Dog believes by now nearly every two- and four-legged in our blogging family knows that the most wonderful world The White Dog Army can envision is one without the c monster. At times it is overwhelming that so many Warriors must fight so bravely only to lose the battle. During those moments it is hard to focus on the victories, the advances that are pushing harder and with more success to beat the beast.

But amazing research is underway. Comparative Oncology is opening a new path to finding therapies and cures that destroy cancer in pups, and children; in kitties and women. Scientists are finding that we are not so different, two- and four-leggeds, and that what we discover works for one species often is a c killer in another as well. That gives hope that the cancer free wonderful world might not be so far from our grasp...and that the White Dog Army dream of a day when Cancer.Touches.NoOne. will become reality.

Please share our excitement about this wonderful news...

I love your post!!!

Actually, the treatment that K is getting for her osteosarcoma is part of a project that will hopefully eventually be used in humans. Before a couple of years ago, K's leg would have been amputated. We had a chance to get "stereotactic radiation" to kill her bone tumors. She's only the 100th dog to have this treatment at the Colorado research center (and the success rate has been very high in killing the primary tumors but not in extending life)...

K will be followed and studied, even after her death, to find out the pros and cons of her treatment, and I hope that her contribution will help this technology to be used on humans someday.

Thanks for your Wonderful Wednesday post!

K is a brave Warrior, incredible inspiration AND a pioneer in treatment that may one day destroy the beast attacking her. We are SO honored to walk beside such a hero!

Thanks for advancing the fight in a very personal way.
