White Dog spoke over her shoulder to her Number One, Quinn, who was taking notes. "So after twenty-four hours, this is what we know about the new recruit, Oso, OAWD...

...He is pretty fearless. He walked right into the middle of the assembled White Dog Army and took the initiative to greet us all politely and acted nonchalant,  like he had been here all his life. That was pretty darn brave.

...Oh! Another White Dog is a Mini-Me for you, TOWD. He spent all of last night following you around and copying your every move. I saw you looking back to see if he was tagging along. He has your same quiet gentleness of spirit.

...The new boy apparently was raised in an underprivileged home. He has no idea how fantastic duck jerky is. Dad had to beg him to take a little bite and then at first he SPIT IT OUT! Make a special note to work on that.

...Oso likes the idea of lining up with the rest of us for treats, he even found his perfect spot in line. Again, though, don't know WHAT he ate at that other place but he is pickier than Puff when it comes to treats...although I kind of like that he takes his and then politely leaves it on the floor for one of us.

...Not too gifted mechanically. Still having a heck of the time with the dog door despite me and Nuka trying to get him to figure it out. If dad holds the flap open it is OK and he will follow one of us out, but dad had t go look for him in the yard this afternoon because he went out and couldn't figure out how to get back in. Good manners, though, not a single inside "mistake."

...His skills of charm may prove a useful new weapon in the goal of getting what we want. Not only does he have "the look" but he also likes to be held in laps and cuddled! Ts morning when Gregg stopped by to meet him, he was in Gregg's lap in less than 5 minutes and was snoozing in his lap while being petted in under 10. That skill will work to our advantage in the future.

...He is a good walk partner for you, brother. You walked better leading him and like I said, he is like your Mini-Me. Walks will be good for him; he is a bit on the plump side.

...OAWD snores and is a "talker"....AND is an early morning riser. He and dad woke me up with their chit-chat and it was only like 7am. Might have to rethink his sleeping in the bedroom; although HE seemed to think that was exactly where he belonged! Right on the little mat that no one in the Army uses by the toy box .

...Oso is a daddy's boy for sure! Between you and Puff and now Oso, dad needs another pair of hands for special cuddles .

...The boy is properly stubborn, a good Eskie trait. Momma still hasn't been able to convince him to eat dinner or even just kibble although he did eat some nibbles of dad's barbacoa taco at lunch.

...Not a toy player but he sure did enjoy exploring the back yard. He was out there so long this morning that I had to go out to make sure he wasn't lost.

Oso is going to do well in the White Dog Army, Quinn, I can see it and feel it already! He will need guidance and discipline, but I think he is already well on the road to being a stellar recruit. Momma and dad chose a fine addition. I just hope the little guy doesn't drive you to distraction tagging at your heels and copping your moves.

Quinn looked up from his IPad, "I kinda like having him at my side. He is a sweet guy and in time might become a special friend...never really had one of those."

Had a good chuckle about Oso spitting out the duck jerky. Does that mean one of the Army gets his leftovers? BOL!! Love that he already feels at home and in place. Very cool! And what a good buddy for Quinn!!

I will come and be Quinn's friend. I might have to be a friend from a far, but none the less a friend. Please tell Osa to eat because food is good to eat.

We think a very wise choice was made in adding Oso to the troops. We are so happy that he seems to be just what Quinn needs:)
