White Dog has decided that the White Dog Army is getting soft. With the heat wave and Steve's schedule this quarter, the WDA is not getting nearly the maneuvers time they once did. Granted, YoYoMa and Steve go running every morning for a couple of miles and Oso does such fast zoomies every time he reenters the house that he wipes out because his short little legs can't keep up with his body momentum. But for the most part, this summer has been spent with lots of lazing under the cool air vents and napping away the afternoon.

This morning while it was still cool, BEFORE breakfast, WD led the Army out into the yard. There she took all of the pups on a "follow the leader" game that circled the yard's perimeter, wove under the deck, trotted up the ramp and down the stairs (Quinn was allowed to use the ramp both ways). They paused at the gate for a gang leaping and hopping serenade of the FedEx truck, then once more around the yard (with WD showing off by jumping the agility hurdles permanently in place) and then inside.

For his part in the White Dog Fitness Program, Steve has returned after a long break to a weekly yoga class (today was the first). In preparation, he was sitting on the floor doing some flexibility postures when the WDA charged back in from THEIR workout.

They thought his cross-legged lotus position was perfect for climbing onto to rest; his dog pose a chance to lick clean his glasses and try to crawl under him; his cobra an opportunity to stand on his back; and his tree stance a chance to see how long Steve could stand on one leg if he was surrounded by White Ones with no place to put his other leg down. By then Steve was begging for mercy. In exchange for a promise of immediate breakfast the WDA went and waited in the kitchen while Steve finished.

"I cannot imagine that the class is going to be tougher than this," he joked. When he came home after his hour-long session of stretching and loosening, the White Dogs were napping. "How did it go?" I asked. "I am going to be so sore tonight," he replied. Oso lifted his head in agreement. "Well, White Dog, Little Miss Personal Trainer, looks like you have your work cut out for you!" I laughed. She looked at me with an assessing eye...

WD sure knows how to keep those pups in line! Nothing better than a cool morning for a romp around the yard. And even better to test Steve on his yoga moves. How is that dogs always make everything better? :)

We need a pawsonal trainer like WD at our house. Both my Mom and I aare kind of lazy, so if Siku Marie could just pack a bag, hop a bus and come vist for a aweek or two maybe she could get us a-working.

Kisses,
Stella

Ha,now we see what your comment meant:)

We get locked behind the bars a couple of times a day as Dad has lots of work to do for his injury:(

We haven't gotten much activity in this summer with the heat and last winter with Mom's broken arm. But come the cool weather, Mom says we will be out for lots more and lots longer walks.

Well, I am very impressed that Steve is taking a yoga class. Brian tried it once and then gave up. The only kind of yoga Pip likes is the kind that can be done on the couch!
