White Dog, The Other White Dog, Another White Dog, Still Another White Dog, Yet Another White Dog, and Oh, Another White Dog wish you all a wonderfully celebratory National Dog Day filled with lots of cuddles, treats, speeches about your greatness, and love, lots and lots and lots of love!

Founded in 2004, National Dog Day was created to honor dogs more than we currently do, to give them "a day", to show deep appreciation for our long connection to each other - for their endearing patience, unquestioning loyalty, for their work, their capacity for love and their ability to impact our lives everyday in the most miraculous ways. National Dog Day wishes to encourage dog ownership of all breeds, mixed and pure - and embraces the opportunity for all dogs to live a happy, safe and ”abuse-free life”.
20 Ways to Celebrate

1. Adopt a dog from your local shelter or pure breed rescue organization. Volunteer at your local shelter and offer to walk a dog or play with a dog, clean cages or anything else they need help with.

2. Donate blankets, food and toys to animal welfare organizations.

3. Write your Congressman and ask that he/she support the ban of Puppy Mills and Gas Chambers in your state.

4. Have a National Dog Day party and invite all your friends and their dogs!

5. Assist an ill or elderly neighbor by walking their dog.

6. Buy your dog a fun new dog toy.

7. Give your dog some fun exercise by taking him or her to a doggy play resort or park.

8. Give your dog a massage or holistic spa treatment.

9. Throw out all your chemical cleaners and purchase non-toxic cleaners for your home to keep your dog cancer-free!

10. Dog-proof your home and yard.

11. Buy your dog a new collar.

12. Install a car safety harness to keep your dog safe during travel from

13. Pamper your dog in pure luxury by purchasing something fabulous from a popular shop--take him with you to pick it out.

14. Buy your dog a chic and comfy new bed.

15. Buy a canine first aid kit and put it in your car in case of injury while away from home.

16. Microchip & I.D. Tag your dog so the shelter can locate you if he gets lost.

17. Teach your children and their friends to be kind to your dog by never pulling on his ears or tail.

18. Pledge to walk your dog every day for proper health and behavior management.

19. Pledge to never chain your dog to a tree or doghouse. Always include your dog in your family by letting him live inside the home with you.

20. And last but not least - pledge to never yell at or hit your dog...to be patient and kind and give your dog lots of love and praise every day.
