White Dog and the rest of the White Dog Army have been following the activities of this hurricane season with paws crossed for those living in a nearly constant state of threat. We are a long way from an ocean but imagine with terror that hurricanes strike the same dread into the hearts of those who live in the "zone" as wildfires do to us here.

We have seen photos of the destruction the rain and surging waves and wild winds generate. We are still moved to tears when we think of the never to be repaired damage done by Katrina...not just in terms of property, but lives lost, and families torn apart, and animals gone forever. New Orleans hopefully has taught us how to be better prepared but the White Ones worry that truly not much can be done to turn back a raging Mother Nature.

Haiti and Cuba already bear fresh wounds from this past week and now as Isaac smashes into Louisiana, we fear for those whose names and stories we personally know, whose lives we share through friendship and blogging all along the Gulf and Eastern coastline.

Tonight we ask the Universe to gentle these storms and to protect those within their paths. The White Dog Army is focusing White Dog positive energies and is wooing softly in hopes of calming the winds. Join us as we send strength and hope to those who must live through it. And as we thank those at the ready in shelters for humans and pets, those public servants who bravely are out in the fury, those volunteers who are making sure that the elderly and disabled are secure, and the neighbors who reach out within their community to look after each other. We hope they can feel our paws and hearts and that they know they are not alone.

We will pray with you. It's awful to experience natural calamities. I've been through 3 calamities in my life. One was when the roof over our head flew away because of the very strong winds and we had to live with a nice neighbor for a week and the other was when we had experienced a flood that was taller than I was.

Huggies and Cheese,

Haopee

I'm sorry about the biting and itching. Our vet had to make Buchi wear the cone of shame for 2 weeks.

Knowing first hand what these monster storms can do, we stand beside you in prayer for everyone in the path of one of these storms. We say a special prayer for those in Louisiana this morning.

Hi Siku Marie, Nuka Angel, Puff, YoYoMa, Oso, & the Might Quinn!
Thank you so much for your donation to help the Winnie's Wishers. As you know, we support this private rescuer, Ms. Chrystal, heavily...as three of our own purrsibs are graduates of her program. :) We will put the money in as soon as your check comes.
Much Luvums,
