White Dog and The White Dog Army rooted the puffy envelope out of the mail stack and pushed it to the top of the pile. Their tail-wagging excitement and sniffing frenzy told me immediately that this was not another directive from Publisher's Clearinghouse to open the package, do eight million tasks involving searching and finding pieces and pasting stamps in order to win a million dollars everyday for the rest of my life.

As a matter of fact, it was a wonderful surprise from the Dachsies with Moxie and their amazing WHN. The WDA pressed close as we tore open the package. Six Eskies tried to plunge their heads into the bag at once. WD gave her "I am in charge" growl and everyone took a step back to let her see first. White Dog looked up and asked me to empty the bag so all could see. I held up the gift and all of the pups pushed forward wanting to see the special name bandanna that had been created uniquely for each of them.

The note told us these were very wonderful badges of honor to be worn during our fight to beat the c monster. Right away, the WDA voted to lead the Puppy Up! Edgewood Walk on November 4th in these handmade with love, especially powerful superhero clothes. We could all tell immediately that each scarf contained lots of hope and positive energy; in fact, it was difficult to convince some of the pack to take them off after the photos were done.
White Dog is playful in modeling her gift.
Always the shy one, Quinn is more than happy to let Steve see his back.
AWD is hiding the fact that she is unknotting her scarf as Steve shoots.
SAWD had to find just the right sunbeam to highlight her outfit.
YoYoMa liked the glowing effect and nosed Puff out of the way for HIS shot!
Oso ran when Steve tried to remove the bandanna. He wasn't ready to put away his magic cape.

Thanks seems too little a word for such a generous, time consuming, and meaningful gift, but it comes from each of our hearts and is sent with all the genuineness and gratitude that we can stuff into the six letters. One day, when we have won the battle and cancer.touches.NO.one. we will maybe donate our "capes" to the Smithsonian...or maybe we will just rest our tired but happy heads on them as we remember our most thoughtful friends.
