White Dog reporting today. Momma has the sickies and the White Dog Army and I have restricted her computer time so we can't visit today.
I felt momma getting hotter and hotter in the night; it was almost uncomfortable being snuggled so close to her. Then suddenly, she threw the blankets back and vaulted over Quinn who was lying on the side of the bed, leaped over Puff in the doorway and dashed into the bathroom. She was in there for a long time and when she came back to bed she was all sweaty and cold. It seemed like for the rest of the night, every time I would just get back to sleep she would jump up again. Finally Puff woke up and moved to sleep in the crate with Nuka so at least momma had one less hurdle.
In the daylight Dad took her temperature and she had a fever. We all crowded around her very worried but she said she just has a "bug." Oso sniffed her all over and could not find a single insect so we worried that something had gotten inside her, especially when Puff said she could hear weird noises coming from momma's insides when Still Another White Dog pressed her head against momma. I stayed by her side all day and never left except for potty breaks, and then YoYoMa took over.
Dad helped us bundle her in blankets and made "beige" food for breakfast. Momma only ate a few bites and shared the rest with us. All day she has just been sleeping and is kind of crabby. But we understand the sickies make one grouchy and we still stay close.
I sit on the arm of her chair and Puff lies at her feet. YoYoMa protects her other side and comes over to lick her hand in encouragement. Quinn paces and nudges her to make sure momma keeps drinking water. Oso and Nuka rest on the edges of her blankets. Dad says we are doing a very good job nursing and that love makes everything better quicker.
I sure hope so.
