White Dog started dancing on Steve's chest. "Really? You are not pranking me? Truly?" She was reacting to Steve's joyful greeting to the day: "School's out for TWO whole weeks! No homework! No assignments! And since I have vacation time I must use...I am HOME and the king of FUN all week!"
Immediately the White Ones clustered around the bed chanting, "rides and park time...rides and park time..." "As a matter of fact", Steve said glancing at the clock and swinging his legs down, "We have a date to meet Dragon and Sen-ge in an hour to go to brunch and hiking at the Coronado National Monument. Get ready!"
Like the overprotective momma I can be I bundled my double furred Nordic dogs in sweaters so they would not get cold while waiting for us humans to eat (even thought the temperatures were climbing toward 50 degrees F). Puff has grown to love her sweatshirts and Nuka still gets excited when we bring her pink curly fabric coat out of the closet. Oso wasn't sure about the magenta pawprint sweater but relaxed into it after Steve told his that he looked rico suave. White Dog just looked at me, daring me to even SUGGEST she wear clothes so I did not push the issue. YoYoMa might have been persuaded to try on a jersey or leather jacket but since the WDA standard issue clothes are much smaller than he is and more toward the feminine side, he declined.
Dressed, harnessed, in the van, the day was, to quote Puff, "better than a jerky treat!"
SPECIAL NOTE OF THANKS
Dearest friends, you made my eighth birthday my most memorable ever! What amazing and generous hearts you have! Your incredible Pay It Forward tributes were each precious and so appreciated; they will be remembered in my heart always. Whenever I feel alone or like things are dark, I will remind myself of the awesome friends I have who determinedly work in small quiet ways to make the world a better place every day. Your kindness of sharing yourself and your stories were the best gift I can imagine. Thank you so very much!
