White Dog hopped up on the couch next to Steve. "So," she asked, "what ARE we planning for Michael's birthday this weekend?" "He says he doesn't want anyone to fuss over him," Taiko responded. "That there isn't anything he really needs."
WD laughed. "That means that he will be THRILLED if we make a big deal of his day and make him feel extra special. What he told you is just tough guy talk."
The White Dog Army sighed as WD started planning. "It is his volunteer day at Fat Katz so maybe we can start by showing up with a treat for him and his co-volunteers at Petco. We can all go in if we will promise to not torment any kitties." "Don't you think that might stress out the cats," YoYoMa asked (he is rather fond of them). "Not if we stay at the far end of the row," Taiko calmly replied.
"I know momma and dad are already planning on taking Michael to his favorite restaurant for dinner. He loves going to Red Lobster and they have all those silly drinks that he likes." "Michael drinks?" Oso gasped. Puff snorted, "No, little man, he likes that they look like cocktails but he never gets the potent ones." "I love seafood, why can't we all go?" Oso continued. "No patio!" the rest of the WDA answered at once.
"But we can have cake and ice cream here at home after dinner...and he can open presents." White Dog plotted. "By the way what should we get as gifts?"
I left the WDA drawing up a list of possibilities and debating each suggestion. I am sure White Dog will have on her list of event planning...Friday: Shop for Michael's birthday present, bring home, wrap it, and HIDE it. Also make WDA birthday card. My girl, she is thorough like that!
